David Skinns of Lincoln, England fired an opening round 8-under 62 to take a one-shot lead over Sean O’Hair and Sam Burns at the 2024 RBC Canadian Open at Hamilton Golf and Country Club.
Skinns, who began his round on the back nine, carded six birdies over a seven-hole stretch to take the lead into Friday. The 42-year-old Englishman played 29 events over three seasons on PGA TOUR Canada (2013, 2015, 2016). Leading the Canadian contingent is David Hearn of Brantford, Ont. who shot a 3-under 67 on Thursday. For a recap from Thursday’s opening round, click here.

SIRIUSXM CONCERT SERIES CONTINUES FRIDAY
Night one of the three-night SiriusXM Concert Series featured DJ Frank Walker and Loud Luxury performing on the SiriusXM stage. Friday night will feature Juno Award winners, July Talk and Canadian legends, Our Lady Peace. Award-winning singer, songwriter and philanthropist, Lindsay Ell will join country music rising star Josh Ross on Saturday.

The tradition returns on Friday with the annual Red and White Day at the RBC Canadian Open. On Friday May 31st, spectators, staff, and fans are encouraged to wear the nation’s colours while cheering on the Canadian contingent chasing a PGA TOUR title on home soil.

THREE PLACES IN THE 152nd OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP AVAILABLE AT THE RBC CANADIAN OPEN
The leading three players not already exempt who make the cut at the RBC Canadian Open will earn a place in The 152nd Open at Royal Troon. In the event of a tie for a qualifying place, the player with the higher ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) at the beginning of the week commencing 27 May will be awarded a place in The Open.
