Friday, August 25, 2023 – One day after Yuka Saso shot a 6-under 66 to set a Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club tournament course record, Megan Khang went out and did the same on Friday at the CPKC Women’s Open.
Khang made the turn at one-under and finished strongly with five straight birdies on holes 11 through 15, to get to 6-under on the day. Khang closed with three consecutive pars in a bogey free round. She takes a one-shot lead into the weekend over Linn Grant who shot a 71 on Friday and sits at 6-under for the tournament. 2019 CPKC Women’s Open champion, Jin Young Ko is two back at 5-under along with first round leader, Yuka Saso.
Brooke Henderson bounced back with a bogey-free round of 68 on Friday and is at 1-under for the tournament in T12. Joining Henderson into weekend play is Alena Sharp, who shot 75 on Friday and sits even par for the tournament.
